Rajasthan Expands Food Security to 1 Crore Beneficiaries
The Rajasthan government has added 1 crore (10 million) new beneficiaries to its food security program.
This was made possible by a 'Give Up' campaign, where financially well-off people voluntarily gave up their food benefits.
This allowed the government to include more deserving families who were previously left out.
The campaign started on November 1, 2024, and the portal for new applications was reopened on January 26, 2025.
The new beneficiaries will receive 5 kg of wheat per person and will also be eligible for other welfare schemes like the Chief Minister LPG Subsidy Scheme and the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana.
This initiative ensures that no eligible family is deprived of food security and other benefits.
Rajasthan government expanded food security coverage to 1 crore beneficiaries under the NFSA.
The 'Give Up' campaign encouraged financially capable individuals to surrender their benefits.
93.48 lakh beneficiaries voluntarily gave up their benefits, allowing 10,056,511 new beneficiaries to be added.
The NFSA portal was reopened on January 26, 2025, adding 87.6 lakh beneficiaries.
New beneficiaries will receive 5 kg of wheat per person and access to other welfare schemes.
