Maharashtra Penalises 33,993 Vehicles in HSRP Enforcement Drive

Maharashtra officials are checking older vehicles for special number plates called HSRPs.

The rule applies to vehicles registered before April 1, 2019.

Owners received several extra chances to install the plates.

From July 1 to August 28, officials checked 1,06,668 vehicles.

They found 33,993 vehicles without the required plates.

These owners were penalised, and ₹79.13 lakh was collected in fines.

HSRPs are designed to make number plates harder to copy or misuse.

Officials are expected to continue the checks.
