Goregaon-Mulund Link Road Tunnelling Begins
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is about to start digging a big tunnel for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road in Mumbai.
This road will help people travel more easily between different parts of the city.
The tunnel is 6.65 km long and will go under a national park and some forests.
The BMC has two big machines from Japan to help dig the tunnel.
The whole project will cost a lot of money and is expected to be finished by 2028.
Some people are worried about the tunnel hurting the environment, but others think it will be good for the city.
The BMC is ready to begin tunnelling for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road this weekend.
The project includes a 6.65 km twin tunnel under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and forest areas.
Two Japanese-made Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) will be used for the excavation.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 14,000 crore, with completion targeted for 2028.
The project aims to improve connectivity between Mumbai's western suburbs and the Eastern Express Highway.
