Governor Launches Turmeric Initiatives to Boost Nizamabad Farmers
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla launched two programmes for turmeric farmers in Nizamabad.
One is called the Sunhari Mitti Abhiyan.
The other is meant to connect farmers with buyers and exporters.
Farmers were encouraged to use modern technology and natural farming methods.
Using fewer chemical fertilisers may help protect soil and reduce farming costs.
The National Turmeric Board wants more turmeric to be processed into higher-value products in India.
Better quality and residue-free turmeric could help farmers receive better prices.
Officials also said training and small processing machines could help farmers and farmer groups.
