Odisha Forest Land Mapping Project Nears Completion
Imagine the state is making a super-detailed map of all its forests.
This helps them know exactly where the forest boundaries are.
Right now, they are almost finished with this map, which covers a lot of land!
This project will make it easier to build things like roads and buildings, but only if the government says it's okay.
The mapping is to help prevent land disputes, protect people's rights, and help communities get forest products.
The project is happening because the Supreme Court told them to, and other places might copy what they are doing.
Odisha's geo-referencing of forest land is in its final phase.
The project covers 60,000 sq km of forest land.
The project is guided by a central committee, as per Supreme Court directives.
The initiative aims to streamline forest land management and resolve disputes.
The new system will reduce delays in development activities.
