Vaishnaw promotes nuclear power for AI and railways
Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister, talked about how small nuclear reactors can help power big computer centers that run AI and the railway system.
He said these reactors are clean, safe, and can be set up easily.
The government recently passed a law called the SHANTI Bill that allows private companies to build these nuclear power plants.
This law was approved by the President in January 2024.
Vaishnaw explained that these reactors can be as small as a container and need only a small piece of land to operate.
They can provide a lot of power without causing pollution, making them a good choice for the future.
Ashwini Vaishnaw advocates for small, modular nuclear reactors to power AI data centers and railways.
Nuclear energy is promoted as a sustainable, pollution-free power source for heavy current needs.
The SHANTI Bill, passed in December 2023 and approved by President Murmu in January 2024, allows private sector involvement in nuclear power plant setup.
Container-sized nuclear reactors with 15-30 MW capacity can be deployed on 14 acres of land.
Railways can utilize small modular reactors as a sustainable power source at 700 grid-connected locations.
