Nine Home Guards Rescued After Motorboat Sinks in Narmada

A boat carrying nine Home Guard workers sank in the Narmada River.

The workers were watching the river near Gwarighat.

The river had a strong current after the Bargi Dam gates were opened.

A floating piece of wood became stuck in the boat’s engine.

The boat began to sink, which frightened the workers.

Some swam to safety, and local boatmen rescued the others.

Everyone was brought to safety and officials said they were wearing life jackets.

Police and Home Guard officials are investigating what happened.
