JOSH Teams Mobilize Youth to Support India's TB Elimination Effort

The health department has started JOSH teams to help fight tuberculosis, or TB.

The teams will include young volunteers and NCC cadets.

They will work in local blocks or wards under an officer’s leadership.

Their job is to teach people about TB and help communities take part in screening.

They will also help identify people who may have TB early.

Volunteers will encourage patients to finish the treatment prescribed to them.

Officials said people receiving treatment need community and emotional support.

The effort is part of the Centre’s TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
