Dhule Activist Proposes 70-MW Solar Canopy
A man named Jayesh Bafna from Dhule had a great idea.
He wants to build a big solar panel structure, like a roof, over a long stretch of a highway.
This highway goes from Mumbai to Agra.
The solar panels would make electricity.
The government people who take care of highways think this is a good idea.
They like it because it can make clean energy, help factories, and keep the road in better shape.
It might also help the environment.
The project could cost around ₹400 crore and make a lot of electricity every year.
If it works, it could be the first of its kind in India.
Dhule activist Jayesh Bafna proposed a 28-kilometer elevated solar canopy along the Mumbai–Agra National Highway.
The project aims to generate 70 megawatts of solar power, utilizing around 700,000 square meters of area.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹400 crore, with potential benefits including lower road temperatures and reduced asphalt wear.
The solar energy generated could supply power to industrial estates and support vehicle charging and public utilities.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has praised the concept, and it is currently under consideration.
