Delhi HC to Hear Plea on Animal Sexual Crimes in July
Imagine if a law protecting animals from harm was accidentally removed.
That's what happened when Section 377, which protected animals from sexual abuse, was taken out.
Now, FIAPO, an animal protection group, is asking the Delhi High Court to fix this.
They want to ensure hurting animals in this way is against the law.
The court will listen to their request in July to decide if the protection for animals will be brought back to ensure animals are safe and those who hurt them can be punished.
The Delhi High Court will hear a plea concerning sexual crimes against animals in July.
The plea is filed by FIAPO, the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations.
Section 377 of IPC was repealed, which inadvertently decriminalized sexual violence against animals.
The plea seeks to restore the criminalization of sexual crimes against animals.
The court posted the matter on July 16 to allow the petitioner to bring more facts.
