Government Seeks Jadavpur University’s Decade of PhD Records

Government Seeks Jadavpur University’s Decade of PhD Records

The government has asked Jadavpur University to show records of PhD admissions from the last 10 years.

This means officials want to check how students were selected.

The request came after groups alleged that some university entrance tests were unfair.

The government has advised universities to use national exams such as UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET and GATE, followed by interviews.

A teachers’ group linked to the RSS has asked for a central investigation.

Its representatives alleged that the admission process favored supporters of the political Left.

A Jadavpur University professor said entrance tests are needed for subjects where national exams are not offered.

The university says it will wait for the department’s opinion before deciding what to do about future PhD admissions.
