India's Teacher Count Surpasses 10 Million for First Time
For the first time, India has over 10 million teachers, according to a new report.
More than half of these teachers are women, a rise from previous years.
Since 2014, a lot of new teachers have been hired, with most of them being women.
Because there are more female teachers, more girls are also going to school.
However, the total number of kids in school is slightly less than before.

Female teachers constitute 54.2% of the teaching workforce in 2024-2025.
5.14 million teachers have been recruited since 2014, with 61% being female.
Girls' enrollment has risen, representing 48.3% of new enrollments in 2024-2025.
Total school enrollment decreased from 251.79 million in 2022-2023 to 246.95 million in 2024-2025.
