IGRMS Weaves India’s Cultural Stories Through Bhopal’s Open-Air Museum

The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya is a large museum in Bhopal.

It is built among forests and hills near the Upper Lake.

Instead of showing everything inside glass cases, it displays many buildings and artworks outdoors.

Visitors can see homes from different parts of India.

They can also explore rock paintings, tribal art, boats, and sacred spaces.

Artisans built some of the homes with bamboo, mud, wood, and thatch.

The museum shows how people lived and created things over many centuries.

A single day may not be enough to see all of its cultural displays.
