Telangana HC Restores Suspension of TGSRTC Staff
The Telangana High Court recently made a big decision.
They said that five workers from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) should be suspended again.
These workers were accused of mishandling a lot of money, about Rs 30.32 lakh, at a fuel station.
Earlier, a single judge had said they shouldn't be suspended because other workers with similar issues weren't suspended.
But the High Court disagreed.
They said the five workers were directly involved in the wrongdoing, and suspending them was important to make sure the investigation is fair.
The High Court also said the single judge made a mistake by not understanding the difference between the workers' roles and the seriousness of their actions.
Now, the suspended workers will have to wait for the departmental proceedings to finish, but they still have their rights during this process.
The Telangana High Court restored the suspension of five TGSRTC employees accused of misappropriating Rs 30.32 lakh.
The division bench criticized a single judge's earlier order for interfering with administrative discretion and transgressing judicial review limits.
The court noted a qualitative distinction in the charges against the respondents, emphasizing their direct involvement in the misconduct.
The single judge had set aside the suspension orders, citing selective treatment, but the High Court found this reasoning flawed.
The High Court directed that the pending departmental proceedings against the officers should be concluded as expeditiously as possible.
