Israel Advances Bill for Palestinian Death Penalty
The Israeli Parliament has taken a big step by advancing a bill that could allow the death penalty for Palestinians accused of being involved in the October 7, 2023 attack.
This attack is considered one of the worst security failures in Israel's history.
The bill was introduced by some important politicians and was supported by 19 votes.
It proposes setting up a special court to handle these cases, with a retired judge in charge.
The court would have the power to decide on serious crimes like terrorism and genocide.
The bill also says that there would be no appeals, no prisoner exchanges, and the trials would be broadcast live.
Some people, like a Palestinian lawyer, say this is a bad move because it takes away the legal rights of Palestinians.
Since the attack, there has been a lot of fighting, and many Palestinians have been killed or injured.
