Birbhum strongman's ex-bodyguard held in Tulu Mondal cash case
Police in India arrested a man named Sehgal Hussain.
He used to be the bodyguard of a politician named Anubrata Mondal.
The police questioned him for 22 hours before arresting him.
They found a lot of money, gold, and land papers at his home.
The police think Hussain helped another man named Tulu Mondal.
Tulu Mondal is a stone seller who is hiding from the police.
The police think he may have run away to Turkey with his family.
A judge said Hussain must stay in police custody for seven days.
The court also told Tulu Mondal to appear before it by September 14.
Police have also been seizing properties linked to Tulu and arresting his relatives.
Sehgal Hussain, former bodyguard of Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal, was arrested after a marathon 22-hour interrogation and sent to seven days of police custody by a local court on Sunday.
Police recovered Rs 13 lakh in cash, around 800 grams of gold, more than 150 land deeds and foreign currencies, including from Arab countries and Pakistan, from Hussain's apartment in Bolpur.
Hussain, a former armed constable of the West Bengal Police, had served as Anubrata Mondal's personal security officer since 2011.
Hussain was earlier arrested by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate in the multi-crore cattle smuggling case and spent more than two years in Tihar Jail.
A Suri court has issued an arrest warrant against absconding stone merchant Tulu Mondal, directing him to appear by September 14; he is suspected to have fled to Turkey.
