Biogas sector to attract Rs 5,000 crore investments by FY27
The biogas sector in India is expected to receive a lot of money, over Rs 5,000 crore, by the year 2026-27.
This is because many people are interested in investing in biogas plants.
These plants make a special kind of gas called biogas, which comes from breaking down organic stuff like plants and waste.
This gas can be used as fuel.
Right now, there are more than 100 of these plants already working, and they sold a lot of biogas last year.
The government and groups like the Indian Biogas Association are helping to make more of these plants and improve the ones that are already there.
This will help the environment and create jobs.
The biogas sector in India is expected to attract over Rs 5,000 crore in investments by 2026-27.
Over 100 compressed biogas (CBG) plants have been commissioned, with strong interest from investors.
The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) anticipates significant growth in CBG facilities and supportive policy frameworks.
94 CBG plants sold more than 31,400 tonnes of CBG during FY 2024-25.
India has installed 2,361 MW of biomass power projects and 228 MWe of waste-to-energy projects in the last ten years, along with 2.88 lakh biogas plants.
