West Bengal Sees Exodus of Over 6,600 Companies Since 2011
Imagine a lot of companies in West Bengal are packing up and moving to other states.
Over the past 14 years, thousands have left.
Many are going to places like Maharashtra and Delhi because they find it easier to do business there.
The government in West Bengal used to have special programs to help companies, but they stopped those.
Now, with fewer companies and fewer investments, West Bengal's economy isn't growing as fast as it could, and the state's share in industrial output is very low.
Over 6,600 companies migrated from West Bengal between 2011-2025.
More than 2,200 companies left in the last five years.
Companies primarily moved to Maharashtra, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.
Mamata Banerjee's government abolished industrial schemes to save money.
West Bengal's share in the country's industrial output is only 3.5%.
