Whirlpool Corp. Shares Plunge Following Profit Outlook Cut
Whirlpool, the company that makes appliances, said they won't make as much money this year as they thought.
This made people worry, and the price of their stock went down.
They said that some things they thought would help them make money, like tariffs, didn't happen yet.
Also, other companies were selling more things, and fewer people were buying houses.
Although the company expects tariffs to help later on, the change made the stock price drop.
The company is still planning on earning a lot of money in sales for the year.
Whirlpool Corp. shares dropped up to 14% after cutting its profit outlook.
The company now expects Earnings Per Share between $6 and $8, lower than previous forecast of $10.
Management cited unrealized benefits from tariffs and increased competition.
Net sales dropped 5.4% during the quarter, and North America sales decreased by 4.7%.
Quarterly dividend payout was reduced to $0.9 from $1.75 per share.
