Haldia Petrochemicals Plans Downstream Chemical Projects in Bengal

Haldia Petrochemicals Plans Downstream Chemical Projects in Bengal

Haldia Petrochemicals makes chemicals that are often sold as basic materials.

The company now wants to turn more of those chemicals into products that are closer to what customers use.

Its new plants will make phenol and acetone, which are used in products such as adhesives and medicines.

The plants are due to start operating on October 14.

HPL plans to encourage other businesses in Bengal to make products from these chemicals.

It also expects to build some of its own smaller downstream projects on land it already has.

The company says it may expand the plants later with limited investment.

Its chief executive says business conditions could improve in FY28 and FY29.
