Indian Stock Market Awaits Budget 2026
The Indian stock market is a bit nervous before the Union Budget 2026, which will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1.
The market has been struggling in January due to various factors like a weak rupee, ongoing foreign outflows, and rising oil prices.
Analysts suggest that the budget might focus on areas like defense, infrastructure, and affordable housing.
They have also recommended several stocks to buy before the budget, including Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Housing Finance, Titan, Garden Reach Shipbuilders, Grasim, Coal India, and PFC.
Each of these stocks has shown strong technical indicators, making them good bets for investors.
The market is hoping for measures to boost consumption and support economic growth while staying on the fiscal consolidation path.
Despite the recent rebound, the market remains cautious due to persistent foreign investor outflows and global uncertainties.
The Indian stock market snapped a three-week losing streak, with the Sensex and Nifty 50 rebounding on budget optimism and earnings beats.
The Nifty 50 and Sensex ended January with losses of 3.10% and 2.8% respectively, marking their worst monthly performance since February 2025.
Analysts recommend stocks like Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, and Titan ahead of the Union Budget 2026, expecting focus on defense, infrastructure, and PSU stake sales.
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold nearly ₹36,000 crore worth of Indian equities in January, driven by global uncertainties and attractive AI opportunities elsewhere.
The rupee depreciated 2.3% in January, touching an all-time low, which has intensified FPI selling and tightened liquidity.
