Andhra Pradesh Flood Risk Prompts Urgent Health Precautions

Heavy rain may cause flooding in parts of Andhra Pradesh on September 23 and 24.

Floodwater can contain germs, sewage, chemicals and sharp objects.

People should not walk, swim or drive through floodwater.

Drink bottled, boiled or properly treated water if water supplies may be contaminated.

Wash your hands with soap and clean water.

Keep cuts covered and seek help if they become infected.

Do not eat food that touched floodwater or was kept unsafe during a long power cut.

Stay away from fallen power lines and damaged electrical equipment.

Get medical help for serious injuries, dehydration, high fever, breathing trouble or ongoing vomiting and diarrhoea.
