MMRDA Explores Land Tokenisation to Fund Infrastructure Projects

MMRDA Explores Land Tokenisation to Fund Infrastructure Projects

MMRDA manages land and builds large infrastructure projects.

It is exploring a new way to use the value of its land called tokenisation.

The idea would be introduced through Maharashtra’s proposed Delta Act.

MMRDA says it could raise only the amount needed for a specific project.

This would be different from selling land in the usual way.

The authority has received a very large amount of land across three districts.

It expects to earn more than Rs 11,177 crore from land sales and related charges in 2026–27.

MMRDA hopes the new system would improve its cash flow and reduce the need to borrow money.
