ED registers 4,622 PMLA cases; secures 43 convictions

The Enforcement Directorate is a special team in India that investigates crimes involving large amounts of money.

The PMLA is a law that helps this team catch people who try to keep money that was made by doing something wrong.

Between 2021 and 2026, this team started 4,622 cases under that law.

The team also arrested 1,243 people and sent 2,444 cases to special courts.

A court decided that 104 people were guilty, spread across 43 cases.

Another government group, the Income Tax Department, also handles money-related cases.

It filed 2,127 cases and won 233 of them, while 854 people were cleared of the charges.

The government shared these numbers with Parliament, the country's big meeting of leaders.

It explained that some cases take many years to finish, so the numbers of new cases and final decisions do not always match up.
