Bhopal Traffic Police Focuses on Helmets, Ignores Speeding Risks
The Bhopal traffic police started a safety campaign to make roads safer.
They mainly checked if people were wearing helmets and seatbelts, issuing many tickets for not wearing them.
However, they didn't pay as much attention to speeding, which is a major cause of accidents.
Although the police say they are tackling all violations, including speeding, many accidents still happened in different areas.
These accidents involved different types of vehicles and led to multiple injuries, with police registering cases against the vehicle owners.
Bhopal traffic police launched a road safety drive from September 8 to 22.
The drive focused on helmet and seat belt compliance initially.
1,370 challans were issued for helmet violations and 261 for seat belt non-compliance.
Only 48 overspeeding cases were recorded during the same period.
Multiple accidents occurred, often caused by overspeeding and rash driving.
