ED uncovers misuse of GST IDs in cross-border drug network
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) found that some people from Myanmar used the GST IDs of Indians to buy chemicals needed to make drugs.
The ED raided places in Mizoram, Assam, and Gujarat.
They found out that Indians were buying certain tablets and chemicals for Myanmarese people, which helped in making and selling drugs across the border.
The ED also found a lot of money and froze some bank accounts.
This all started when the Mizoram Police found a big amount of heroin.
The ED is trying to stop this drug network that affects the border areas between India and Myanmar.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) discovered that Myanmarese nationals misused Indian GST credentials to buy raw materials for drug manufacturing.
Raids were conducted in Mizoram, Assam, and Gujarat under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Indians procured Pseudoephedrine tablets and Caffeine Anhydrous on behalf of Myanmarese nationals, enabling cross-border drug production and trafficking.
The ED seized Rs 46.7 lakh in cash and froze 21 bank accounts during the raids.
The investigation stems from a Mizoram Police case involving the seizure of 4.72 kg of heroin worth Rs 1.41 crore.
