IACS to Build Rs400 Crore Syama Prasad Campus in Baruipur
The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) wants to open a new campus in Baruipur, a town near Kolkata.
They plan to spend 400 crore rupees and finish it in three years.
The new campus will be 33 acres and will let the institute admit twice as many students, from 1,000 to 2,000.
Right now, the old campus can only host 50 students in its main program because there aren’t enough dorm rooms.
The new campus will be fully residential, like the IISER schools, so more students from all over India can stay and study there.
It will also be named after Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a former trustee and scholar.
IACS plans a 33‑acre campus in Baruipur named after Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
The project is budgeted at ₹400 crore and aims to be finished in three years.
The new campus would double student capacity from 1,000 to 2,000 by adding hostels.
Current Jadavpur campus hosts only 50 students in the integrated BS‑MS programme due to limited accommodation.
The campus will be fully residential, modeled after IISERs, allowing intake up to 500 students.
