BCCI Announces Rule Changes for Domestic Cricket Before IPL 2026
The BCCI is changing some rules in cricket.
First, if a player doesn't run a full run, the fielding captain decides who bats next.
Second, in some one-day games, they will only use one ball instead of two.
Third, if a player gets hurt in a longer game, they can be replaced with someone who plays the same position, if the match referee agrees.
These changes were prompted by injuries in a recent series.
BCCI introduces a short-run rule where the fielding captain decides the striker.
The BCCI will implement the ICC's single-ball rule for ODI cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
A like-for-like player replacement will be allowed for injured players in multi-day tournaments.
The match referee will approve player replacements based on medical reports.
The rule changes follow discussions sparked by injuries during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series.
