Assam Issues Helplines After Shillong Violence Strands Travelers

Violence happened during a protest rally in Shillong on August 19.

Some vehicles from Assam were damaged.

Afterward, some people had trouble travelling through Meghalaya.

The Assam government created two helplines to help find stranded people and vehicles.

Families and others can share information through WhatsApp or a landline.

Assam Police will pass the information to officials in Meghalaya.

The two states say they are working together to help people move safely.

Meghalaya Police has arrested three Khasi Students' Union leaders over the violence.

The union said earlier that unwanted people may have entered the rally to cause trouble.
