Ronan Farrow Developing HBO Doc on Tennessee Serial Rapist and Police Misconduct
A famous journalist named Ronan Farrow is making a TV show for HBO about a man named Sean Williams.
This man did very bad things like hurting people and making illegal pictures.
He was supposed to be caught, but he ran away for a long, long time.
The TV show will also look into whether the police in the town, Johnson City, might have done things wrong or failed to do their job properly while trying to catch him.
This is important because it asks questions about whether people in charge are held accountable.
The show will include interviews with people involved, like a prosecutor who was looking into the case.
Ronan Farrow is producing an untitled documentary for HBO focusing on Sean Williams, a Tennessee man convicted of serial sexual assaults and child pornography production.
Williams was sentenced to 95 years for his offenses and an additional 5 years for escaping custody.
The documentary will also investigate allegations of misconduct and systemic failures within the Johnson City Police Department spanning over three years.
Directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the film will feature exclusive access to key subjects, including a dismissed federal prosecutor.
Farrow's reporting on the subject, including a New Yorker article titled "How Police Let One of America’s Most Prolific Predators Get Away," led to the documentary project.
