Mumbai Man Arrested Under POCSO After Allegedly Following Boy
Police in Mumbai arrested a 28-year-old man after a 10-year-old boy said the man followed him home.
The boy said the man asked questions about his school and family.
He also allegedly took photographs and videos of the child.
The boy told his parents, who checked security-camera recordings.
Police reviewed many recordings from the area to identify the suspect.
They reportedly traced him using a small digital payment made at a paan shop.
Police said the suspect’s phone contained images and videos of the boy and other children.
The man faces charges under child-protection and other laws, but the investigation is still continuing.
Mumbai police arrested 28-year-old Abhijit Ashok Surve over allegations involving a 10-year-old boy in Ghatkopar East.
The boy allegedly told his parents that a man followed him into his residential building and photographed and recorded him.
CCTV footage allegedly showed the man following the child, questioning him and taking photographs between about 2:36 pm and 2:42 pm on September 7.
Police examined around 50 to 60 CCTV recordings and traced the suspect through a ₹15 Amazon Pay transaction at a paan shop.
Police said the seized iPhone 15 contained photographs and videos of the boy and several other children; further investigation is underway.
