Former CNOOC Executive Li Yong Sentenced to 14 Years for Corruption

Li Yong, a former high-ranking official at a Chinese oil company, has been sent to prison for 14 years.

He was found guilty of taking bribes.

The bribes totaled more than 67.94 million yuan, accepted both directly and through others.

Li retired at the end of 2023 because he had reached the official retirement age.

The court found that he had broken the law by taking bribes.

This means he misused his position for personal gain, which is illegal.
