NHAI to build Rs 51-crore tunnel-style service road on Bengaluru airport highway
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is building a special road under the main highway near Bengaluru airport.
This road, called a depressed service road, will be like a tunnel and will cost about Rs 51.27 crore.
It will help cars and other vehicles move more easily between different parts of the Indian Air Force station and connect to a nearby lake.
The project includes moving some IAF equipment and building a surface-level road as well.
This is the only part of the highway that doesn't have a service road yet, so this new road will make things better for everyone using it.
NHAI is constructing a depressed service road (underpass) on the Bengaluru airport highway for Rs 51.27 crore (excluding GST).
The project includes a 320-metre covered depressed service road, an 800-metre surface-level road, and relocation of IAF assets.
The underpass will feature two lanes with paved shoulders, connecting the IAF station’s domestic area to its technical area and the runway to Hunasamaranahalli Lake.
This stretch is currently the only section without a service road on the 22.12-km Hebbal-Trumpet section of NH 44.
The project aims to separate local service road traffic from the main road.
