Advocate’s Journey From Not a Pet Person to Cat Parent
Ananya did not originally want to keep pets.
She worried that travelling would make caring for animals difficult.
Her family first adopted a kitten named Cherry.
They then rescued another kitten named Choco.
Cherry and Choco later had three kittens named Charlie, Cheesy and Cheeni.
The five cats now live happily together in the family home.
They play, follow house rules and eat from their own bowls.
Choco is Ananya’s favourite because he is especially caring toward his family.
Ananya De Das, an advocate, initially did not want pets because she often travels for work.
Her family adopted Cherry, a rescued female kitten, after her son’s friend found her.
They later took in Choco, a traumatised male kitten whose siblings had been killed.
Cherry and Choco eventually had three kittens—Charlie, Cheesy and Cheeni—born in February.
The five cats follow household routines, eat from personal bowls and wear name pendants.
