Sony Pictures India unveils Tamil channel Sony VIZHA, launching October

A big television company in India is starting a brand-new TV channel.

The company is called Sony Pictures Networks India, and it is often called SPNI for short.

The new channel is called Sony VIZHA, and it will show programs in Tamil, a language spoken by many people in southern India.

The channel will start in October.

It will have made-up stories, fun game shows, movies, and big special events.

Viewers can watch it on television and on digital devices like phones.

The word Vizha means celebration or festival in Tamil.

The channel's logo uses yellow, a color linked to Tamil celebrations like turmeric and marigold flowers, and electric blue for a fresh, modern feel.

Children sang the Tamil anthem Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu to reveal the name and logo on Independence Day.
