Chennai Metro Completes Trial Run to Vadapalani
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has completed a trial run of a train from Porur Junction to Vadapalani, which is 5.5 kilometers long.
This is part of their bigger project to build new metro lines in the city.
The trial run shows that the tracks and electricity are working properly.
The next step is to do a trial run in the opposite direction.
The CMRL wants to finish this part of the project by June 2026, but they are also trying to help people who travel by metro right now.
So, they are going to start running trains from Porur Junction to Vadapalani without any stops in between.
Later, they will add more stops as they get ready.
This is all to make sure that more people can use the metro and benefit from it.
CMRL completed a trial run from Porur Junction to Vadapalani on the 5.5 km down line.
This is part of the 118.9 km Phase II project with three corridors.
The trial run marks the completion of the viaduct, track laying, and electrification.
Up-line trial runs from Kodambakkam Power House to Porur Junction are scheduled next.
CMRL plans to extend train services to Vadapalani as an interim measure for commuters.
