Engineer Turns Millet Snacks Entrepreneur in Pune
Ajay Kangralkar was a construction engineer who decided to start a business selling millet snacks.
He was inspired by his father-in-law, who was a farmer, and by the United Nations declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
His company, SkyRoots Ventures LLP, makes healthy millet-based snacks without preservatives.
They started with jowar and bajra flakes and now have over 40 products.
They sell in more than 7,000 stores in 30 cities and also in other countries.
The company helps farmers and aims to grow its sales by three times each year for the next three years.
Ajay Kangralkar left a stable construction career to promote millet-based snacks through SkyRoots Ventures LLP.
The company focuses on healthy, preservative-free millet products, starting with jowar and bajra flakes in 2019.
SkyRoots now offers over 40 products, available in more than 7,000 retail outlets across 30 cities in India.
The company has expanded internationally, supplying to the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and the US.
