Sensex Rises 300 Points, Nifty Above 26,200
On January 2, 2026, the Indian stock markets, Sensex and Nifty, started the day with small gains.
The Sensex went up by 334.68 points to reach 85,523.28, and the Nifty50 increased by 100.35 points to 26,246.90.
This happened because some parts of the market, like auto and metal stocks, did well, while others, like FMCG stocks, did not.

Emerging markets also did well, with their stocks going up by 1.1%.
