Hamas, Israel Clash Over Gaza Ceasefire Terms
Hamas has said it will follow a new plan to stop fighting in Gaza.
The plan says Israel must first keep its promises from the first part of the deal.
If Israel does that, both sides will pull back troops and rebuild the area.
Israel says it will not leave its troops until Hamas is fully disarmed.
Some Israeli leaders think the plan is unfair and want to keep killing Hamas members.
Hamas agreed to a written ceasefire framework that includes Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction, and international oversight.
The framework requires Israel to fully implement all obligations of the first phase before the second phase can begin.
Israel has rejected any withdrawal of its forces from the current “yellow line” until Hamas is genuinely disarmed.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir criticized the framework as unacceptable and opposed halting targeted killings of Hamas members.
The agreement will involve international forces, a National Committee for Administration of Gaza, and an oversight committee to monitor compliance.
