Tata to Upgrade Army's Pinaka Rocket System
The Indian Army's Pinaka rocket artillery system is getting a big upgrade.
Tata Advanced Systems has been given the job to help fix and improve the existing Pinaka systems.
They will work with the Army's 510 Advance Base Workshop to make sure the rockets and their control systems work well.
The Pinaka system can shoot many rockets quickly and accurately.
It's like a big truck with many rocket launchers on it.
Tata and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have been working together since 1989 to make this system.
The rockets can go very far, up to 300 km, and the system is mostly made in India, which is great for the country's defence.
Tata Advanced Systems awarded order to upgrade Pinaka MLRS and BCPs for the Indian Army.
Collaboration with 510 Advance Base Workshop for overhaul and technical support.
Pinaka system features automated 'shoot-and-scoot' operations and precise targeting.
System has 80% indigenous content, reflecting high self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Tata and DRDO have been collaborating on the Pinaka programme since 1989.
