Earthquake on Colombia's Pacific coast causes injuries and damage

In the morning, the ground in a part of Colombia called Choco began to shake very hard.

This shaking is called an earthquake.

The earthquake started near a place called San Jose del Palmar.

The shaking hurt some people and damaged buildings in a city called Quibdo.

People far away in the capital city, Bogota, felt the ground shake too.

Even people in a nearby country called Venezuela felt it.

The leader of the area, Governor Nubia Carolina Cordoba-Curi, said everyone is worried about aftershocks.

Aftershocks are smaller shakes that can happen after a big earthquake.

The governor and her team are checking how much damage happened and will give an official report soon.
