SC Raps Hospital for Denying Treatment to Rape Victim
The Supreme Court of India was very upset with a hospital and a doctor because they did not help a 4-year-old girl who was hurt very badly.
The girl had been hurt in a very bad way, and the hospital and doctor did not give her the help she needed right away.
The Court said that the hospital and doctor were very mean and did not care about the girl.
The Court also said that if they had been kind, they would have taken the girl to another hospital if they could not help her themselves.
The Court will talk about this again next week.
The Supreme Court reprimanded a private hospital and its doctor for refusing emergency treatment to a 4-year-old rape victim who later died.
The Court described their conduct as merciless, ruthless, and insensitive, questioning their medical ethics.
The CJI suggested that the doctor should not use the title 'doctor' if they do not perform their duty with empathy.
The Court warned that imposing a monetary penalty could have a chilling effect on the hospital's conduct.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for the following week, preferably on Tuesday.
