Maharashtra Raises Honorarium for MLAs’ Personal Assistants, Drivers

The Maharashtra government decided to pay more money to personal assistants and drivers working for sitting MLAs.

Personal assistants will now receive Rs 40,000 per month instead of Rs 30,000.

Drivers will receive Rs 30,000 instead of Rs 20,000.

The new amounts apply from August 1, 2026, even though the announcement was made later.

Chandrakant Patil announced the decision.

He said the workers help MLAs with legislative and administrative duties.

A joint committee had recommended considering the increase.

The article uses two different descriptions for Patil’s ministerial position.
