Independence Day Tragedy: Student Electrocuted While Hoisting Flag

A teenage boy in India was helping his school get ready for a big national holiday called Independence Day.

He climbed onto the school roof with a long metal pole to hang the flag.

The metal pole touched a very powerful electric wire above the roof.

Electricity travels easily through metal, so the electric current went straight through his body.

The shock gave him very bad burns and he collapsed.

The school staff rushed him to the hospital, but the doctors could not save him.

His family is very sad and says the school should have been more careful.

They say no one told them about the accident for almost an hour.

The family wants the people responsible for his death to face consequences.
