Telluride Ski Resort Closing Due to Labor Dispute
Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado is going to close on Saturday because the ski patrol workers are going on strike.
They want to be paid more money because they think their current pay is not fair.
The workers are asking for a starting pay of $28 per hour, which is more than the $21 they get now.
They also want workers with a lot of experience to get more pay.
The owner of the resort says the strike will hurt the community, but the workers say the owner is not being fair.
The resort has not been fully open this season because of warm weather, and only 20 out of 149 trails are open.
The workers are responsible for helping injured skiers and making sure it's safe on the slopes.
Telluride Ski Resort will close on Saturday due to a strike by the ski patrol union.
The union is demanding higher pay, with starting wages increasing from $21 to $28 per hour.
Experienced patrollers want their pay to rise from $30-$36 to $39-$48.60 per hour.
The resort owner blames the union for the closure, while the union blames the owner for not offering a fair contract.
Only 20 of the resort's 149 trails have been open this season due to warm weather.
