Indravati Tiger Reserve To Reopen After Four Decades In Chhattisgarh

Indravati Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh is preparing to welcome tourists again.

It is expected to reopen on November 1.

People could not safely reach much of the reserve for about 40 years because of extremist violence.

About 70 percent of the reserve was difficult for forest officials to access.

Officials are buying vehicles and planning safari routes.

The reserve is home to rare wild buffalo and is believed to have about six tigers.

It also has leopards, bears, vultures, and many other animals.

A recent sighting of smooth-coated otters showed that the reserve has a rich variety of wildlife.
