Former Mumbai Mayor Vishakha Raut Disqualified for Six Years
Vishakha Raut is a senior local politician and former mayor of Mumbai.
The Maharashtra Government has said she cannot be elected as a city corporator for six years.
This decision came after officials cancelled her OBC caste certificate.

She received 13,236 votes, beating Priya Sarvankar Gurav by 167 votes.

The Urban Development Department issued the disqualification order in a September 1 government resolution.
The order followed the August 21 cancellation of Raut’s OBC caste certificate by the Palghar scrutiny committee.
The committee said Raut had filed the certificate under wrongful jurisdiction.
Raut won Mumbai’s ward 191 by 167 votes against Shinde-led Shiv Sena candidate Priya Sarvankar Gurav.
