Thackeray Cousins Reunite, Invoke Samyukta Maharashtra Movement
Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), announced his reunion with his cousin Raj Thackeray, the chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
They talked about the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, which was a big fight to keep Mumbai in Maharashtra many years ago.
Uddhav said they want to protect Mumbai and the Marathi people from any threats.
The BJP, however, thinks this reunion is just for political power.
There are also concerns about projects moving to Gujarat and the BJP's education policy.
The Thackerays are trying to unite the Marathi-speaking people before the upcoming city elections.
Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray reunited, invoking the Samyukta Maharashtra movement to protect Mumbai's Marathi identity.
The reunion aims to woo the Marathi-speaking population ahead of the municipal elections scheduled for January 15.
The BJP dismissed the reunion as an alliance forged for power, questioning their 20-year delay in uniting.
Uddhav Thackeray has repeatedly raised grievances over major projects shifting to Gujarat and the BJP's education policy.
The Thackerays' call to action is seen as a response to the BJP's policies and an attempt to consolidate the Marathi vote bank.
