India to Develop Own Bullet Train
India was planning to build a super-fast train line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad with help from Japan.
Japan was supposed to provide the special bullet trains, but they couldn't finish designing them in time.
So, India decided to make its own bullet trains and use signalling systems from other countries.
Some people in Japan are upset and say India made a big mistake, but India is moving forward with its own plan.
India will develop its own bullet train for the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.
Japan was originally supposed to provide the Shinkansen bullet train, signalling system, and Operation Control Centre (OCC).
Japan could not deliver the E10 Shinkansen train before 2034, leading to India's decision.
The civil construction work for the project will still be done by India.
A Japanese official criticized India's decision, calling it 'sheer recklessness'.
