Tamil Nadu Secures Extra Power Amid Heat, Wind Shortfalls

Tamil Nadu has been using more electricity because the weather stayed hot for longer than expected.

People used more fans, air conditioners and other cooling devices.

At the same time, less wind meant wind turbines produced less power.

This created a shortage for two days.

Some areas experienced outages lasting up to an hour.

Residents protested because they said they were not warned about the outages.

TNPDCL is trying to fix the gap by buying 2,000 MW more electricity.

Officials said supply had stabilised after emergency power was purchased.
